Just blend a few simple ingredients together and you have a refreshing frozen rose that tastes like a grown-up slushie. “My old frose recipe had to be prepped and frozen a day in advance. This recipe tastes better, and is much easier!”

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • No freezing ahead – Many of the popular frose recipes require you to freeze ingredients like the rose before making the cocktails, but this recipe doesn’t need any freezing ahead of time!
  • Perfect summer drink – Whether you are enjoying a summer evening outside, entertaining friends or just relaxing by the pool, this easy frosé recipe is a perfect option.
  • Make ahead trick – You can make this recipe ahead of time then freeze it in ice cube trays. Blend them up when you are ready to enjoy!

ingredients

Here’s a quick look at the ingredients you need to make this easy frose recipe. For a full list of amounts please head to the full recipe.

frose pouring into a stemless wine glass with a strawberry on the rim
  • Dry rose wine – make sure to opt for a drier wine to avoid making your frose too sweet
  • Frozen whole strawberries – the frozen strawberries add flavor and the perfect texture for your frose
  • Sugar – a bit of sugar balances out this frose recipe. You could also use simple syrup, agave, or honey.
  • Ice – the ice gives your frose a classic slushie texture

A dry or semi-dry rose gives the best flavor. Avoid very sweet wines because that can make it too sugary. You don’t need a fancy bottle for this, just something you enjoy!

I love the taste of strawberry frosé, but you can use so many different types of frozen or fresh fruit to make this recipe. Frozen watermelon would also be delicious. You can even use raspberries or mixed berries to change the flavor slightly. Be sure to strain out the seeds before blending in the ice.

To add a bit of sour flavor to the rose, you can squeeze some lemons into the mixture before blending. The lemon juice adds the perfect sweet and sour flavor.

For another summer cocktail to try, make this watermelon vodka cocktail or this frozen mango margarita.

How to make This Easy Frose Recipe

Step 1: Add frozen strawberries, rose wine and sugar to a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Pour mixture through a strainer to strain out any strawberry seeds.

Step 2: Pour strained mixture back into the blender and add the ice. Blend again until a smooth mixture remains. Serve in glasses with a fresh strawberry garnish.

Mad’s Expert Tips for the Best Frose Recipe 🍷

  • Blend your frose thoroughly – put the blender on high for a full 30-60 seconds to get a smooth slushie texture. If the mixture is too icy and chunky, let it sit for a minute and blend again.
  • Use a dry or semi-dry rose – A wine that is too sweet can make the frose overly sugary. A dry rose from the grocery store works great.
  • Use the frozen strawberries for extra flavor – Adding a handful of frozen strawberries makes the frose even more fruity and refreshing without watering it down.
  • Serve right away – Frose melts quickly so pour it into glasses and serve immediately. If you need to wait, store it in the freezer and blend again quickly before serving.

For another summer wine drink, make this peach sangria.

Recipe FAQs

What kind of rose wine should I use for frose?

A dry or semi-dry rose works best. You do not need anything expensive to make this frose delicious.

Can I make frose ahead of time?

You can blend it and store it in the freezer for a few hours. Just blend it again quickly before serving to break up any chunks.

Can I make frose without a blender

You really do need a blender for this recipe to get that smooth slushy texture. A food processor can work, but it will not get quite as smooth.

Can I make a non-alcoholic version?

Yes! Swap the rose for a non-alcoholic rose wine or use frozen pink lemonade blended with sparkling water for a similar feel to frose.

How can I make frosé with vodka?

Add 1 shot of vodka per serving of each rosé wine slushie. You can also add blanco tequila or some coconut rum depending on your flavor preferences.

Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 375 ml of dry rosé wine
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups of ice

Instructions

  • ** Each batch of this recipe calls for half a bottle of wine. If you want to use the full bottle of wine, I recommend making 2 batches for the best consistency.
  • Add frozen strawberries, rose wine and sugar to a blender. Blend on high until smooth.
  • Pour mixture through a strainer to strain out any strawberry seeds. Pour strained mixture back into the blender and add the ice cubes.
  • Blend again until a smooth mixture remains. Serve in wine glasses with a fresh strawberry garnish.

Recipe Notes

  • Look for a dry rose for the crispest flavor
  • You can use a different type of sweetener in place of the sugar. You can use simple syrup, agave or maple syrup
  • You can use a different type of frozen fruit in place of the strawberries. Feel free to use frozen raspberries or even frozen watermelon
  • Make your frose ahead of time and store in the freezer. Blend again before serving.

My old frose recipe had to be prepped and frozen a day in advance. This recipe tastes better, and is much easier! For your vodka-spiked version, I used lemon vodka, and it was spectacular! I will keep frozen strawberries and rose on hand all summer for this, it’s a keeper. Thanks, Madeline! <3

My previous comment had a mistake. We didn’t strain the strawberry mixture, added some frozen peaches and subbed agave for the sugar, and it was really good! Thanks for sharing this easy recipe.

This recipe was good, but after some tweaks, it was even better – used a squeeze of agave syrup instead of sugar and added some frozen strawberries. Just delicious!
