This Chicken Apple Sausage Sheet Pan Supper is my go to weeknight dinner when I don’t know what to make. I always have chicken apple sausage on hand and I like that I can use any of the veggies I have! Plus, is is SO simple to make this delicious chicken apple sausage recipe with minimal prep.

I like to serve this simple chicken apple sausage recipe with a dipping sauce for extra flavor. I usually serve it with this homemade creamy honey mustard or creamy balsamic vinairgrette.

“Love this recipe! I make it every year in the fall and winter. Sheet pan meals make everything so easy can’t beat it”

Sheet pan meals are the millennial casserole

I saw this phrase on Instagram last week and it had me laughing, but its SO true. Sheet pan meals are my life saver during the work week. In the same way that families used to rely on casseroles, I rely on simple sheet pan suppers.

The best things about sheet pan meals are they usually make enough for the current meal PLUS leftovers. This fall inspired apple chicken sausage recipe was perfect for Amy and I because we ate some immediately for a quick meal and packed the leftovers for lunch the next day.

Ingredients You’ll Need

You will be amazed at how easy it is to make this chicken apple sausage recipe. Just prep the simple ingredients and bake!

ingredients for chicken apple sausage sheet pan supper recipe with labels on each ingredient
  • Chicken apple sausage: I like aidell’s chicken apple sausage brand, but there are many different brands. I love to cut them on a bias so they are longer thinner slices. If you don’t like a sweet apple sausage, you can use any chicken sausage variety.
  • Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes: cut veggies into smaller pieces that are equal in size. The equal sizes help things cook evenly in the oven.
  • Dijon mustard, maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil: mix all of these together to make a flavorful sauce that coats the sausage and veggies prior to baking. If you like things extra sweet, feel free to add a couple extra tablespoons of maple syrup to this mixture.
  • Salt and pepper: Season all ingredients with salt and pepper prior to baking. After baking, season with salt to taste. I sometimes add garlic powder and onion powder to the seasoning mixture to boost the flavor.

Use any vegetables you have on hand in place of brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. I have made this many times with broccoli and baby yellow potatoes. It is also delicious with cubed butternut squash. Feel free to add thinly sliced onions in with the vegetables.

To add some extra veggies, I serve this over some greens with crumbled goat cheese or whipped goat cheese and some easy pickled red onions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this chicken apple sausage recipe in a skillet?

Yes! Although I prefer to bake this in the oven, you can make it in a large skillet. Start by sauteeing the vegetables and when they are soft, mix in the sliced sausage, maple balsamic sauce and salt and pepper. Continue simmering until warmed through and serve warm.

What is chicken apple sausage good with?

I like to serve chicken apple sausage with a starch like potatoes and a vegetable. That is why it is great in this recipe with the sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts and tangy sauce to bring everything together.

Are chicken apple sausages cooked already?

Yes! Most of the packaged, store bought chicken sausages are fully cooked, but you can confirm by checking the package. I love cooking with chicken sausage for this reason.

Storage and Reheating

Once prepared, allow the meal to cool fully before transferring to an airtight container in the fridge. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in the oven, microwave or air fryer. I prefer to reheat in air fryer at 325F for 5-7 minutes.

Sheet pan meal with sausage, sweet potato, brussels sprouts and a simple sauce

Servings: 3 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pack chicken apple sausage I used Aidell’s brand ~ 16oz
  • 16 oz brussels sprouts
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
Prevent your screen from going dark

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  • Peel and cube sweet potatoes – you want small even sized cubes so they cook evenly. Trim the ends off of the brussels sprouts and quarter the sprouts. Slice sausages into slices on the diagonal
  • In a large mixing bowl whisk together the dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup and olive oil. Add the sausage, brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes to the mixing bowl. Toss to coat the ingredients full in the sauce
  • Spread the ingredients on the baking sheet and season with salt and pepper
  • Bake at 425F for 40 minutes tossing once halfway. If you want the edges extra crispy, after 40 minutes increase the heat to a broil. Broil until the ingredients are a nice golden brown – this will happen in just a couple minutes!!
  • Remove from the oven and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

  • If you don’t like a sweet apple sausage, feel free to use any fully cooked chicken sausage.
  • If you like your sauce a bit sweeter, add an extra 1-2 tbsp of maple syrup to the liquid mixture.

Did a fridge dump version of this tonight — made the sauce according to recipe and a pack of chicken apple sausage from Butcher Box, but subbed in 2 bell peppers, 1 onion, frozen broccoli florets for the veg. 425 for 20 mins and it was perfect. The sauce gave it just enough flavor. I think I could’ve squeezed sriracha over it and eaten it with rice too! Instead we paired it with mac n cheese 🙂

Delicious. I didn’t have Brussels Sprouts so I added onions and yellow bell peppers along with the sweet potatoes. Will be making again.

This recipe is a game changer! I’ve made it twice in the last two weeks and double the recipe for leftovers, it’s a no brainer. Have switched in some difference veggies like broccoli or red onion but the sauce goes just as well with them too. Talk about quick to prep, easy to cook and cleanup is a breeze!

Bake temperature too hot. It burned the sausages. Broiling would’ve incinerated it completely.

This may be ok at lower temperature. I didn’t broil it as directed because sausages burned after baking at the 425 degrees temperature and 40 minutes baking time stated.
