  • Kid friendly – Christmas bark is a kid favorite! Add their favorite toppings for the best snack.

Serving suggestions

Oreo Christmas bark is the perfect addition to your holiday party menu. To complete your snack menu, make a holiday cheese board and some cranberry Kentucky mules.

For some additional holiday desserts, you could make Christmas Chex mix or some candy cane cookies. To serve with your coffee, make some peppermint mocha or sugar cookie syrup!

Ingredients

  • Oreos – To make it festive, I like to use the ones with colored cream
  • Chocolate bars – I recommend using an assortment of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate bars
  • M&Ms – Use the Christmas M&Ms to keep everything festive
  • Christmas sprinkles – I love adding some festive sprinkles with Christmas trees to the top of the bark

Ingredient Substitutions

If you want to make this recipe gluten free, be sure to use gluten-free Oreos.

For your chocolate bark, you can use any combination you would like. Add some peppermint chips for a bit of peppermint bark flavor. You can also use a combination of chocolate bars with semi-sweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chips. If you’d like, incorporate a bit of peanut butter in your Christmas chocolate bark.

You can add any additional toppings you would like! Crushed nuts like walnuts, almonds or peanuts would be delicious. Graham crackers, brown sugar toffee, or rice krispies would also be a fun addition to your Christmas crack. For a sweet and salty mix, add some saltine crackers.

You can also make this recipe in the microwave. Add your chocolate to a microwave safe bowl and heat until melted and it has a smooth texture. Then use a spatula to transfer the chocolate layer to a lined cookie sheet. It will also work in a saucepan by bringing water to a boil and stir the chocolate in a bowl above it. I prefer to use the oven method for the least amount of dishes.

How to make

Step 1: Crush Oreos and melt Chocolate

Preheat oven to 275F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Break oreos up into small pieces and set aside (Image 1).

Unwrap chocolate bars and break in half. Arrange in a pattern on the baking sheet (Image 2). Place in preheated oven for 3-4 minutes. Check to make sure the chocolate is melted and then remove from the oven (Image 3).

Step 2: Swirl Chocolate and add toppings

Once the candy melts, use a toothpick or wooden skewer to swirl the chocolate bars together (Image 4). Top warm melted chocolate with a single layer of oreo pieces (Image 5), M&Ms and sprinkles (Image 6).

Step 3: Cool and Break into Pieces

Allow to cool completely and harden. You may want to put it in the fridge or freezer to harden faster.

Once it is completely cooled break into pieces with your hands or a knife.

Storage and reheating

Store in an airtight container on countertop at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Line the container with wax paper. I like to store it in the fridge to make sure the chocolate does not melt.
