ingredients for easy spinach dip in small bowls with labels on them
  • Chopped spinach: I used frozen chopped spinach to keep this spinach dip recipe super easy. You can use fresh, but you’ll need to chop it and cook it for longer.
  • Onion dip/soup mix: The onion dip mix is the perfect shortcut to flavor in this dip. It makes things so easy as you assemble the dip.
  • Sour cream: The sour cream adds the classic tanginess and creaminess to your dip recipe.
  • Nonfat greek yogurt: I like to cut the sour cream with some greek yogurt to make it slightly less caloric and add a bit of protein. You can adjust the ratio of sour cream to greek yogurt depending on your eaters.

Mad’s Expert Tips for the Best Easy Spinach Dip 🥣

  • Use a 2:1 ratio of sour cream to greek yogurt – while you can do whatever ratio you would like, I find that it gets so perfectly creamy with this 2:1 ratio.
  • Make sure you have finely chopped spinach – to avoid any stringiness in your dip, make sure your spinach is really well chopped so it mixes together perfectly.
  • Allow the spinach to cool – make sure you give the spinach a few minutes to cool before adding the yogurt and sour cream, otherwise it could affect the creamy and smooth texture of the dip.

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and add frozen chopped spinach. Saute over medium heat until warmed through – about 4 minutes.
  • Pour onion seasoning mixture into the pan and toss to combine with the spinach. Toast in the pan for 1-2 more minutes then pour into a mixing bowl.
  • Allow the spinach to cool for a couple of minutes. Then, add sour cream and greek yogurt to the mixing bowl and mix to combine evenly.
  • Serve immediately or chill in the fridge and serve chilled with chips and vegetables.

Recipe Notes

  • You can use a different ratio of sour cream to greek yogurt depending on your preferences. You can also opt for only one or the other.
  • Fresh spinach will also work in this recipe. Chop it finely and saute it until wilted.
  • Allow spinach to cool before combining it in the dip to avoid any curdling.
  • Store leftover dip in an airtight container for up to five days.
