Make the fluffy Starbucks egg bites at home without dairy
Ever since I tried the delicious sous vide egg bites from Starbucks I knew I had to attempt to make them at home. I came up with this egg bite recipe and it is spot on, BUT many of my readers wanted a dairy-free version.
With this simple dairy free egg bite recipe you will make restaurant quality egg bites right in your own kitchen! You can make these on the stovetop or in the instant pot, but you will need to invest in a silicone egg bite mold in order to make them.
What dairy-free cream cheese should I use to make these egg bites?
I tried maaany attempts to create a dairy free version without using a dairy free substitute for cream cheese and I was unsuccessful. So I tried with 2 different dairy free cream cheeses and they were great!
I tried this recipe with Kite Hill Plain Dairy Free Cream Cheese and Violife Plain Dairy Free Cream Cheese. Both work great as far as texture is concerned. When it comes to flavor I prefer the Kite Hill cream cheese for this reicpe. It was also more affordable at my local grocery store.

Let’s make some Dairy Free Egg Bites!
Instant Pot Instructions for Egg Bites
To begin, add eggs and dairy free cream cheese to a high speed blender or food processor. If you are using the violife cream cheese you will also want to add 1 tsp of salt.
Blend until fully combined and smooth. Check and be sure that all of the dairy-free cream cheese has been blended in.
Chop your mix ins and distribute evenly into each cup of a silicone mold. Pour egg batter into the silicone molds as well.
Pour 1 cup of water into the instant pot. Lower the silicone mold into the instant pot on a trivet. Close the valve to sealing and set the instant pot to the steam-setting for 10 minutes.
When the 10 minutes are up, manually release the pressure and open the instant pot. Allow the egg bites to cool for 5-10 minutes before removing from each mold.
Stove Top Instructions for Egg Bites
To make the dairy free Starbucks egg bites on a stove top you will still need the silicone molds and a blender, but this time you will use a large stock pot or dutch oven to cook them.
To begin, add eggs and dairy free cream cheese to a high speed blender or food processor. If you are using the violife cream cheese you will also want to add 1 tsp of salt.
Blend until fully combined and smooth. Check and be sure that all of the dairy-free cream cheese has been blended in.
Pour 2 cups of water into the large soup pot and place the trivet that comes with the molds into the bottom of the pot. Place your mix-ins into each egg mold cup and pour batter on top. Carefully place the filled egg molds on top of the trivet.
Turn the heat on to high for about 3 minutes until the water boils. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to medium. Allow the egg bites to steam in the pot for 12 minutes.
Turn the heat off and remove the lid. Allow the egg bites to cool for at least 10 minutes. Remove the egg bites from the molds and enjoy!
How long will these egg bites keep in the fridge?
Once prepared, allow these egg bites to cool completely and pop out of the silicone mold. Then, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
How should I reheat these sous vide egg bites?
Reheat these Starbucks copycat egg bites in a microwave or in an air fryer. Cook them for 1 minute in a microwave or at 400F for 5 minutes in the air fryer.

I see you can reheat these in an air fryer but can I cook them in an air fryer instead of the instapot? Thanks!
Madeline says
nope I don’t think that would work!! you can make them in the oven using this recipe, but use the dairy free ingredients https://madaboutfood.co/oven-baked-starbucks-egg-bites/
Emilie says
So, can you replace the 1/2 cup cheese with vegetable or meat mix ins or would the bites not hold shape? Thank you!
Madeline says
They should still hold shape, but if you use veggies that release a lot of water (spinach, peppers etc) then you may need to cook longer
Emilie says
Thank you!

Could I use the Better Than Cream Cheese by Tofutti?
Madeline says
I haven’t specifically tested them with that kind, but it’s very similar in texture and mostly similar in taste so I don’t see why not! let me know if it works for you!
Stacy says
Any thoughts on replacing the dairy free cream cheese with creamy goat cheese?
Madeline says
that wouldn’t make it dairy free anymore, but that’d probably taste good! I haven’t tested that method. if you aren’t dairy free I have some other egg bite recipe son my site that include dairy! goat cheese sounds tasty though.
Vinu says
Hi! Can u stack molds? Do u cover them or leave open? Thank you!
Madeline says
stacking does not working and I leave top off
Dawn says
Just tried both the nondairy and dairy egg bites. Both were amazing! Your recipe is my favorite by far. Thank you for sharing it.
Madeline says

I used Viollife and added a little extra salt. It came out too salty so I will skip it next time. I used vegan shredded cheddar cheese and a little spinach with Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel seasoning. They are very good. I made a double batch and used ten eggs. It was more than enough. Nine eggs for a double batch might work. Leave a little room at the top for expansion of the eggs. I will make them again!

Hi Jennifer! Thanks! In the future, I’d appreciate you leaving the 5 if you consider the recipe very good and are planning to make it again. I am a small business owner and 4 star reviews are a bummer for my business. Thanks again for the review though.
