Ingredients You’ll Need
Here’s a quick look at the ingredients you need to make these peanut butter brownies. For a full list of ingredients and amounts please head to the full recipe.

- Unsalted butter – Rich and decadent brownies always start with melted butter. If you use salted butter here, be sure to omit the salt at the end.
- Semi sweet chocolate chips – I like to use chocolate chips for this recipe, but you can use 2oz of a semi sweet baking chocolate bar instead. For the best texture of the brownie, do not use a milk chocolate.
- Creamy peanut butter – creamy salted peanut butter is best for this recipe. I usually use a natural peanut butter that is made from just roasted peanuts and salt. If you only have unsalted peanut butter you can add extra salt at the end.
- Granulated sugar – plain white sugar results in the best texture and taste. If you use something like brown sugar or coconut sugar it may add too much moisture to the finished brownie.
- Large eggs – use 2 room temperature eggs to whip with the sugar.
- Cocoa powder – I usually use plain unsweetened cooca powder, but you can also dutch-process cocoa powder for a darker, richer brownie.
Feel free to mix some extra chocolate chips, chopped peanut butter cups, or peanut butter chips into the batter for homemade fudgy brownies that are extra flavorful and rich.

Mad’s Expert Tips and tricks for the Best peanut butter Brownies 🍫
- Use a plastic knife to avoid brownies getting stuck – If your brownies always get stuck to your knife when you cut them, try this tip. Use a plastic knife! Allow the brownies to cool completely and then use a plastic disposable knife to cut through them. Much less of the fudgy brownie batter will get stuck to a plastic knife.
- Get even more chocolatey brownies – If you like a very dark and next level rich brownie, use dark chocolate chips and dutch process cocoa powder.
- Not a peanut butter fan? Swap out the peanut butter for any nut butter that you like – These would be delicious with almond butter, cashew butter or even a hazelnut butter. There is a mixed nut and seed butter blend that I like to get at Trader Joe’s that I think would be delicious when paired with chocolate.
- Get a fudgier brownie depending on what peanut butter you use – You can use any peanut butter for these but Skippy and jif peanut butter both make for an extremely fudgy brownie.
- Adjust salt depending on what peanut butter you use – If you use unsalted peanut butter, add an extra 1/4 tsp of salt.

You can add various mix ins to the final batter before baking. Mix in some chopped roasted peanuts for extra crunch or chocolate chips to make them extra rich and fudgy.
