Make delicious Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges in less than 30 minutes with this simple recipe. Cut sweet potatoes into wedges, toss in a homemade seasoning blend and air fry until golden brown.

I like to pair these sweet potato fries with a comforting protein like this oven baked panko chicken or honey mustard chicken tenders.

โ€œThese were easy to make & delicious! They were gone before I could take a photoโ€

Why Youโ€™ll Love this Recipe

  • Ready in less than 30 minutes โ€“ these flavorful and tender sweet potato wedges are ready in less than 30 minutes making them the perfect side dish for an easy weeknight dinner. This is WAY faster than roasting the sweet potatoes in the oven.
  • Delicious homemade spice blend โ€“ the raw sweet potato wedges get tossed in a simple spice blend before cooking. This spice blend combines savory, spicy and even sweet flavors to really enhance the natural sweetness of the potatoes and make this delicious side dish pop.
  • Pair them with your favorite dipping sauce! โ€“ I love to make homemade sauces to serve with this healthy side dish. My favorite is a healthy copycat chick-fil-a sauce, but they are also great with a spicy ketchup!

ingredients Youโ€™ll Need

You need just a few simple ingredients for this air fryer sweet potato wedges recipe. You can find the exact amounts in the recipe card.

  • Medium sweet potatoes โ€“ trim the ends off of the sweet potatoes and cut into wedges. I try to keep the wedges even in size so that everything cooks evenly.
  • Oil โ€“ I usually use avocado oil for high heat cooking, but you can also use olive oil, melted coconut oil or any other vegetable oil.
  • Homemade seasoning blend โ€“ mix salt, pepper, smoked paprika, cayenne, cinnamon, onion powder, and garlic powder together to form a seasoning blend that is savory and slightly spicy.

How to make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges

a large bowl filled with raw sweet potatoes cut into wedges and tossed in oil

Step 1: Cut sweet potatoes into wedges and place in a large bowl. Toss them with oil.

Step 2: Mix seasoning blend together in a separate small mixing bowl. Toss sweet potato wedges in the seasoning blend until evenly coated.

Step 3: Arrange sweet potato wedges in a single layer on an air fryer tray so that there is at least a little space between each one. You may need to cook these in multiple batches.

Step 4: Air fry at 350F until golden brown on the outside and tender on the inside.

Madโ€™s Expert Tips for the Best Crispy Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes ๐Ÿ

  • Cut into even sized wedges โ€“ to ensure even cooking throughout the whole batch, try to cut the wedges into similar sizes. This can take some work because sweet potatoes come in many different shapes and sizes!
  • Add a pinch of cayenne โ€“ balance the sweetness of the potatoes with a pinch of cayenne pepper powder! If you are worried it will be too spicy, you can use a teaspoon of chili powder instead.
  • Leave some space between each wedge โ€“ for crispy edges and a soft texture inside, leave some space between each wedge on the air fryer tray. This allows the for the air to circulate evenly around the sweet potatoes and create perfect crispy wedges.

If youโ€™d prefer to make regular potatoes try these air fryer french fries or even air fryer red potatoes!

Storage and Reheating

Once prepared, allow the sweet potato wedges to cool completely. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Reheat the seasoned sweet potato wedges in the air fryer for 5 minutes at 350F.

Instructions

  • Slice the ends off each sweet potato and cut them into wedges. Combine salt, pepper, smoked paprika, cayenne, cinnamon, onion powder, and garlic powder to make a seasoning blend.
  • Pour oil over the sweet potato wedges and toss to coat them. Pour the seasoning blend into the bowl and toss again to coat.
  • Preheat air fryer to 350F for 5 minutes. Arrange sweet potato wedges in an air fryer basket. Make sure that the wedges are not touching โ€“ you may need to cook them in more than one batch.
  • Air fry the seasoned sweet potato wedges at 350F for 8 minute. Remove them from the air fryer, flip them, and return them to cook for another 4-8 minutes (exact timing will depend on your particular air fryer, but you will want the inside to be fork tender.) Allow them to cool slightly and enjoy!

Recipe Notes
