bake up a batch of the crispiest pork chops with this easy recipe

If you’re looking for an easy and tasty dinner, try making shake and bake pork chops. This recipe is based on the box favorite you may have had as a kid, but it’s an easier and healthier version that takes only 10 minutes to prep. The majority of the cooking time is hands off and the falvor is so much better than the boxed mix.

To make absolutely delicious pork chops just coat the pork chops in the breadcrumbs and seasoning mix and bake them in the oven. In just 30 minutes, you’ll have a perfectly cooked pork chop with a crispy and flavorful coating.

This sheet pan supper is incredibly easy to make and requires minimal clean-up, making it perfect for your busy schedule. Give this shake n bake pork chops recipe a try and enjoy a delicious and hassle-free meal tonight. Your whole family is sure to love this simple meal.

Serving Suggestions

You can pair these shake and bake pork chops with just about anything. Serve them with a side of rice, roasted potatoes, a salad, or other veggies of your choice.

Don’t forget your favorite dipping sauces! If you want to try your hand at making one from scratch, I recommend ranch or creamy honey mustard.

We were always a pork chops and applesauce kind of family growing up. If you love that combo, try this easy and delicious crockpot applesauce to serve alongside the pork chops.

Ingredients you’ll need

Below you will find a quick list of the ingredients needed to make these crispy pork chops. To find the full list of ingredients with amounts, head to the recipe card.

Ingredients for shake and bake pork chops with lables on each ingredient
  • Boneless pork chops – I like to use 1″ thick pork chops for this recipe. If you want to use thick cut pork chops, increase the cook time by about 5 minutes.
  • Bread crumbs – I personally like to use plain bread crumbs for this quick weeknight dinner. For a thicker crust for this breaded pork you can use panko breadcrumbs.
  • Kosher salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, smoked paprika – Add this delicious seasoning mixture to the bread crumbs to create your own homemade shake and bake mix. You can then use that mix on any kind of protein, not just pork chops! Add any extra spices or herbs to this mixture to enhance the flavor. I like to add dried oregano for an Italian taste.
  • Olive oil or any vegetable oil – mix the breading mixture with oil to create a crispy coating and help the breading stick to the pork chops.

Ingredient substitutions

One of my favorite things about this shake and bake pork chops recipe is that it is very easy to make gluten-free. Just use a gluten free breadcrumb mixture in place of the standard bread crumbs. There are rice based bread crumbs that are very delicious.

If you are looking to spice up this shake n bake pork chops dish, you can add some cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper to the breadcrumb mix. Feel free to customize the spice mix to incorporate different tastes and flavors. Even adding some ranch seasoning would be delicious!

You can use this homemade shake and bake mixture for many types of proteins. Feel free to switch out the boneless pork chops for bone-in pork chops, but be sure to check the internal temperature because they may take a little longer to cook through. You may also swap out the pork for chicken breasts to make a classic shake and bake chicken recipe.

Mad’s Expert Tips for the crispiest Shake N Bake Pork Chops

  • Transfer to a wire rack to cool – to keep the cutlets crispy, transfer to a wire rack after cooking to cool slightly. When you do this, you prevent the bottom from getting soggy.
  • Cook the pork chops on a greased metal baking sheet – do not line the baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. The direct contact with the metal baking sheet will give the pork chops the best crust.
  • Make breaded pork cutlets in the air fryer – follow the instructions as written, coat the pork chops in the breading mixture and then place on a greased air fryer tray. Air fry at 350F for 13-15 minutes, flipping once halfway.

I also use a crispy, panko breadcrumb breading to make oven baked panko chicken cutlets.

Storage and reheating

Allow the shake & bake pork chops to cool completely and then transfer to an airtight container in the fridge. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Reheat leftovers either in the oven or air fry until just warmed through. I find that using the air fryer basket to reheat the pork chops is the best way to have leftovers that are not soggy.

So delicious! My toddler even liked it. Will become a regular part of our dinner rotation! Thanks for the trick about baking directly on the cookie sheet, nice and crispy.

I never make pork chops, but this recipe looked so easy and I needed to take a break from chicken, so I had to try it!! It was delicious and for sure going into the rotation. I used whatever spices I had on hand and a meat thermometer, mine was done before 18 min but everyone’s oven is different so definitely use the thermometer if you have one
