Ingredients
- Freeze dried strawberries – fresh strawberries are not ideal for a rice krispie treat, so freeze dried strawberries add the perfect strawberry flavor to your rice krispies
- Salted butter – I use salted butter so you don’t have to add salt separately
- Mini marshmallows – I find that mini marshmallows are best for melting into your rice krispies
- Vanilla extract – a touch of vanilla adds the perfect flavor to your treats
- Crisp rice cereal – the key to any rice krispie treat is your classic rice krispies cereal!
Ingredient Substitutions
To make this gluten free, just make sure to use gluten-free crisp rice cereal! Marshmallows tend to be gluten free, but if someone has an allergy, be sure to get certified gluten free!
To make these more festive, you could add some pink or red sprinkles. For a bit of chocolate, you could also melt white chocolate chips and drizzle it on top. Frosting would also be a fun addition. You could also use freeze dried raspberries in this recipe too!
If you only have unsalted butter, make sure to add a pinch of salt to your pot.

How to Make
Step 1: Blend Strawberries and melt butter
Grease or line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper. Add freeze dried strawberries to a blender or small food processor and blend until you are left with a fine powder texture (Image 1).
Heat six tablespoons of butter in a large pot or large saucepan over low to medium heat until butter is completely melted (Image 2).

Step 2: Melt Marshmallows
Pour in the 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows. Reduce heat to low and mix until the marshmallows are completely melted (Image 3).
Remove from heat and use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to stir in vanilla and freeze dried strawberry powder (Image 4).

Step 3: Stir in Cereal and add to pan
Add in the crispy rice cereal (Image 5) and mix it thoroughly.
Pour the marshmallow mixture into the prepared pan (Image 6). Press down with a piece of parchment paper into an even layer. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
