Ingredients You’ll Need
Here’s a quick look at the ingredients you will need to make this delicious and creamy fried pickle dip!

- Panko breadcrumbs: the toasted panko breadcrumbs add crunch and bring the fried pickle flavor to this dip. It is like mixing the fried pickle breading right into the dip! Feel free to use gluten free breadcrumbs and a gluten free ranch seasoning to make this recipe gluten free.
- Butter: you can use butter or oil to toast the panko. I like the flavor of salted butter and it really helps get that nice toasted golden brown color.
- Chopped pickles: I use dill pickles for this recipe, but you can use whatever kind you prefer that are not too sweet. Finely dice your pickles to add them to the dip. You can also use spicy pickles to add a bit of heat to the dip.
- Sour cream: full fat creamy sour cream is the base for this dip. It help makes the dip tangy and creamy. If you want to add more protein you can do half sour cream and half plain greek yogurt.
- Ranch seasoning: the ranch seasoning blend adds tons of flavor to the dip to make it taste like a fried pickle dipped in ranch. I like to use a ranch dip packet to make this viral fried pickle dip, but you can also use a homemade ranch seasoning by combining some buttermilk powder and dried seasonings like dried dill, onion powder, garlic powder and a bit of black pepper.
- Pickle juice: the pickle juice helps to thin out the dip a bit and adds a little more tang to every bite. If you love the flavor of dill pickles you can add even more juice!

Mad’s Expert Tips for the Best Fried Pickle Dip 🥒
- Toast panko breadcrumbs until crispy – Don’t skip this step! This adds more flavor to the dip and keeps the breadcrumbs crunchy when mixed in with the wet ingredients.
- Use a fresh dill pickle – I prefer to use a fresh pickle, like Grillo’s pickles, from the refrigerated section of the grocery store. The flavor is fresh, herby, and garlicky and you can tell when you mix the pickles and the pickle juice into the dip.
- Serve immediately – I find the flavor and texture of the dip is best when it is served immediately after mixing. You can make ahead of time, but the breadcrumbs get soggier the longer the dip has been mixed.

Make a spicy fried pickle dip by adding things like hot sauce or chopped pickled jalapeños. You can also garnish the dip with some crispy crumbled bacon to add deeper flavor. Mix in some shredded cheese to give it a richer texture.
What kind of dipping sauce is usually served with fried pickles?
Ranch dressing is most commonly served with fried pickles especially at sports bars. Sometimes a southwest ranch dressing is served instead of standard ranch. You can make this at home by adding a dash of hot sauce and a teaspoon of taco seasoning to this dip.
