This Whipped Cottage Cheese Dip is smooth, creamy and loaded with protein. It is the perfect dip to serve with fresh veggies, chips or even some grilled chicken.
make this flavorful dip to add a little extra protein to your meal
If you are looking for a protein packed alternative to your favorite dip, try this whipped cottage cheese dip. It is similar in flavor to a dip made with sour cream or cream cheese but is lightened up because cottage cheese contains more protein.
Because of the added protein this dip is much more filling and satisfying. It is the perfect thing to make on a Sunday meal prep and keep in the fridge all week for quick snacks and meals.
The best thing about this dip is that it is highly customizable and you can add any kind of seasoning blend that sounds good to you. I usually use a ranch seasoning, but za’atar is another favorite option of mine.
What happens when you blend cottage cheese?
When you blend cottage cheese the curds get smooth and you are left with a delicious whipped dairy that is similar in texture to a thick greek yogurt. Many people prefer a whipped cottage cheese because they do not like the texture of the curds in a standard cottage cheese.
Once blended, this whipped cottage cheese can be used any time that you might use ricotta cheese or greek yogurt. You can use blended cottage cheese in place of ricotta in dishes like lasagna for an extra dose of protein.
Serving Suggestions
This whipped cottage cheese makes a delicious dip that can be served as an appetizer or side. I like to serve it with fresh sliced veggies, tortilla chips, or soft fresh pita bread cut into triangles. Some of my favorite raw vegetables for dipping are broccoli, celery, carrots, bell peppers, and cucumber.
It is also a delicious dip for proteins like chicken, steak or shrimp. I like to serve it with my air fryer flank steak, healthy grilled chicken nuggets and air fryer popcorn chicken.

Ingredients
- Cottage cheese – use a full-fat cottage cheese to ensure you are left with a dip that is thick, smooth and creamy. You can also drain the liquid off of low fat cottage cheese
- White vinegar or lemon juice – a little bit of acid adds the perfect amount of tang to this cottage cheese dip recipe. You can also use white balsamic vinegar for a touch of sweetness.
- Olive oil – a little bit of extra virgin olive oil thickens the dip just enough.
- Worcestershire sauce – this adds a bit of umami, sodium and richness to the dip. If you do not have Worcestershire sauce you can use soy sauce, tamari or coconut aminos.
- Dried seasoning blend – I like to make this into a ranch dip. Sometimes l make my own ranch seasoning blend with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, dried parsley, dried chives and a bit of black pepper.
If you want to make a vibrant green dip you can use a mix of fresh herbs. I like to use fresh parsley, fresh basil and green onion. This whipped feta dip also used fresh herbs.
Seasoning options
I personally like to use a ranch seasoning for this dip. Hidden valley ranch seasoning is a great option because it adds extra tang.
Some other seasoning blends that would be delicious in this dip include a Greek seasoning blend, za’atar, Italian seasoning, or even a chili lime seasoning such as tajin.
What type of cottage cheese should i use?
Personally I think a full fat cottage cheese is best for this dip. The higher fat content makes the dip smoother, creamier and fluffier.
That said, any kind of cottage cheese will work just fine. A 16oz container is the perfect size to buy to make this cottage cheese dip. If you use a larger container you will want to use 2 cups cottage cheese.
How to make whipped cottage cheese dip
Step 1: Place ingredients in the food processor
To begin, open the cottage cheese. Then add cottage cheese, olive oil, vinegar, worcestershire sauce and dry seasoning to a food processor or high speed blender.
Step 2: whip dip until fluffy and smooth
Turn on the food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. This may take a while so keep blending until there are not longer any lumps visible and you are left with a smooth and fluffy dip.
Taste the dip and add extra dry seasoning if desired and blend again. I like to start with 1 tablespoon of seasoning and then add more as needed.
Then, I pour it into a small serving bowl and serve with lots of different veggies for dipping.
Storage
Once prepared, transfer any leftovers to an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to one week.
It may expire sooner depending on the expiration date of the cottage cheese so check that prior to making the recipe.
