Ingredients and Ingredient Substitutions
- Canned chickpeas – chickpeas are the base of the hummus that provide the perfect texture
- Vinegar – I like to use white vinegar or white wine vinegar for this recipe to get the best salt and vinegar taste
- Tahini – tahini is made from ground sesame and provides the classic hummus flavor
- Olive oil – I use extra virgin olive oil for this hummus to add a little extra flavor
- Kosher salt – I use kosher salt to make this hummus, but if you use table salt, make sure to cut the amount in half.
- Ice cold water – cold water will make the hummus extra creamy and fluffy

How to make
Drain and rinse the chickpeas. Place chickpeas, vinegar, tahini, olive oil and salt into a blender or food processor.
Blend until fully combined. Then, slowly add a couple of tablespoons of ice cold water and blend again. Keep adding water and blending until your desired consistency is reached.
