Why You’ll Love this Recipe

  • Perfect easy snack – I love making chex mix to have on hand at home for an easy afternoon snack or movie night treat! It’s a simple recipe, and it is my favorite snack mix.
  • Great for parties – Snacks like chex mix can be so easily overlooked at a party! I love having a batch of ranch chex mix in a big bowl for people to snack on.
  • Customizable – You can change up this chex mix recipe however you want to cater to your taste. You can always mix up the ingredients or seasonings.

Serving Suggestions

This ranch party mix is the perfect lighter but still hearty snack to serve with your appetizer spread at a party. I love to pair it with a few different options, like garlic hummus and vegetables, fried pickle dip, and cheesesteak sliders.

For another snack mix option, try this maple cinnamon snack mix, buffalo snack mix or Christmas chex mix.

an above view photo of the ingredients for ranch chex mix with labels on them

Ingredients

  • Rice Chex – I prefer rice chex cereal, but this recipe will also work with corn chex or wheat chex
  • White cheddar Cheez its – white cheddar is my favorite to complement the ranch flavor in this recipe
  • Oyster crackers – I love adding a neutral cracker because it takes on so much ranch flavors
  • Mini pretzels – you can use mini pretzels or pretzel sticks
  • Roasted peanuts – you can omit the nuts to keep this nut free
  • Butter – melt your butter in the stove or in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl until completely melted
  • Worcestershire sauce – a bit of worcestershire adds a ton of flavor
  • Ranch seasoning mix – I use the store-bought packs, but you can make your own too

Ingredient Substitutions

For a gluten-free mix, make sure to substitute all gluten free cracker options!

Instead of Cheez its, you could use any cheese crackers you enjoy. Goldfish crackers would work great too. If you don’t like or can’t have peanuts, cashews, walnuts or almonds also go great in this ranch chex mix recipe. Instead of oyster crackers, you could use bagel chips or melba toast.

To make your own ranch dressing mix, combine garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, chives, dill, salt and pepper. You could also add some parmesan cheese, or throw in a bit of cayenne pepper for heat.

Step 3: Garnish and enjoy

Open the second ranch seasoning packet and sprinkle into the bowl while tossing the ingredients (Image 5).

Pour half of the chex mix onto each of the lined baking sheets (Image 6) and spread it out so you have an even layer on each sheet pan.

Bake in the oven at 250F for 1 hour – tossing the ingredients once halfway through. Remove from the oven and cool completely before enjoying.
