Take a break from buffalo wings and try out these baked bbq wings

I love buffalo wings, but every once in a while I switch things up and order barbecue chicken wings. Now I can have bbq wings at home whenever I want with this simple, oven baked recipe.

First take your chicken wings and bake them until crispy. Then brush them with a Carolina gold bbq sauce and finish baking.

I like to use my homemade Carolina gold bbq sauce for this bbq wing recipe, but you can also use a store bought mustard bbq sauce. Serve these tangy and slightly sweet wings with celery and a homemade ranch dressing.

How to make Carolina gold bbq chicken wings

Step 1: Prep wings for baking

To begin, preheat oven to 425F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper then top with a baking rack. Mix baking powder, salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder and black pepper in a small bowl.

Then, pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel and toss in the baking powder and seasoning mixture. Toss until wings are evenly coated.

Step 2: Bake chicken wings until crisp

Next, place wings on the rack on the baking sheet. Bake at 425F for 20 minutes then flip the wings and cook for another 20 minutes.

Flip one more time and cook for another 10 minutes.

Step 3: Baste chicken wings with barbecue sauce

Then, remove the wings from the oven and baste with the bbq sauce. Coat the wings liberally on all sides and return to the oven to bake for 10 more minutes.

Finally, allow the wings to cool slightly and serve with homemade ranch and celery.
