I love all of the flavors of fall, but there is something about a caramel apple that really brings me back to childhood. This salty-sweet granola reminds me of a caramel apple.
This gluten free granola bakes in a large sheet so you can crumble it into large granola clusters. I like to have these clusters on yogurt, smoothies, ice cream or even on their own as a quick snack.

Let’s make some Salted Caramel Apple Granola!
Step 1: Prepare the salted caramel
To begin, add maple syrup and ghee to a sauce pan over medium heat. Then, whisk the ghee into the maple syrup as it melts.
Once the ghee is fully melted increase the heat to medium-high. Next, allow the mixture to come to a rolling boil. Watch the mixture closely so that it does not boil over.
Then, whisk and reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer on medium-low whisking frequently for 20 minutes – the mixture should reduce to a thicker syrup.
Step 2: Prep the oats
While the caramel sauce reduces, peel the apple and slice into small pieces. Then, preheat the oven to 325F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Next, combine rolled oats, cinnamon, and apple pieces in a large mixing bowl. Once the caramel syrup has simmered for 20 minutes remove from the heat and immediately whisk in the salt.
Step 3: Combine the caramel and oats
Then, allow that mixture to cool slightly and then pour over the oats and apple. Mix thoroughly with a flat spatula so all oats and apple pieces are evenly coated in the salted caramel mixture.
Next, spread the mixture onto the baking sheet in an even layer. You want all of the oats to be touching each other as they cook so that you can break into crumbles after.
Step 3: Bake your granola!
Then, bake at 325F for 30 minutes. Finally, allow the granola to cool completely before crumbling.
Store in an airtight container on the counter for up to 5 days or longer in the refrigerator.
