I knew that my sister wouldn’t be the only one excited to try this healthy copycat dip. One of my girlfriend’s favorite foods is french onion soup. I took the idea of the soft and flavorful onions from that soup and built the dip around that concept.
I guarantee you will love this Whole30 french onion dip just as much as the original Lay’s dip. AND I can bet that it will save you some money in the long run. Making dips and dressings at home are definitely better for your health and wallet.

Whole30 French Onion Dip is a Perfect Whole30 Comfort Food!
When I was on the Whole30 the one thing I wanted more than anything else was savory comfort foods. I love chips and pretzels and popcorn. All of those things are off-limits during the Whole30, so I had to get creative with my comfort foods.
This Whole30 french onion dip is a perfect comfort food when paired with some homemade sweet potato fries. My easy method for making delicious homemade sweet potato fries is to cook them at 400F in a little oil and salt for 35 minutes, flipping once about halfway.
If you aren’t on the Whole30 this dip is obviously delicious with chips and pretzels. It is really great as a mayo substitute on a sandwich and if you are on the Whole30, you can make a no bread sandwich. This Whole30 french onion dip is begging you to spread it on a roast beef sandwich.
What kitchen tools and ingredients will I need to make this dip?
Grab a few simple kitchen tools and eight basic ingredients to make this healthy copycat Whole30 french onion dip. To begin, you will need a sharp knife for dicing the onion. Then, will need a frying pan to slowly sautee the onions.
Other than those you will need a large wide mouth cup or jar and an immersion blender. If you do not have an immersion blender, you can use a standard blender, but your dip will not be as thick and creamy.
If you are using a blender, add all of the ingredients to the blender first and blend. Then slowly stream in the oil with the blender running.
You will need eight basic ingredients in order to make this healthy copycat Whole30 french onion dip. Start with one yellow onion and some oil. Then you will add salt and beef broth to the cooked onions. Finally, to turn it all into a dip, you will need a room temperature egg, vinegar, and oil.
Let’s Make a Healthy Whole30 Dip!
To make this Whole30 french onion dip start by finely dicing the yellow onion. Then, heat avocado oil in a pan over medium-low heat and add the diced onion to the pan. Next, cook the onions slow and low for at least 20 minutes.
You want the onions to be soft and fragrant, but not burned. Stir frequently to reduce the chance of them burning. If the onions seem like they are beginning to burn, turn the heat down even lower.
Next, add salt to the pan and cook the onions on medium-low for another 2 minutes. Then, increase the heat to medium and add the beef broth to the pan. Cook the onions in the broth stirring constantly until all of the broth is absorbed.
Continue making the Whole30 french onion dip and turn off the heat and remove the pan from the stove. Allow the onions to cool. Then, add 1 room temperature egg, white wine vinegar, onion powder, extra light olive oil, and cooled onions to a large wide-mouth jar or container.
