Servings: 4 servings 1x
Ingredients
- 16 oz pork sausage roll, or pork sausage links cut of casing
- 13 oz jar pizza sauce
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 cups mozzarella
- 2 oz pepperoni
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400F
- Heat a small cast iron skillet over medium heat and place a roll of pork sausage in the warm skillet
- Break up the pork into crumbles with a stiff spatula, cook until browned about 6 minutes – if you are having trouble getting the crumbles to break apart you can take them out of the skillet once cooked and chop them
- Make a simple pizza sauce by mixing the tomato paste, water, salt, crushed red pepper, oregano, and garlic powder
- Take the pizza sauce and mix it into the sausage crumbles in the skillet
- Add half of the mozzarella cheese. Next, add a layer of the pepperoni, and then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese. Place in the oven.
- Bake at 400F for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is browned on top
- Enjoy with green bell pepper slices or slices of toasted baguette
Notes
If you do not have an oven safe skillet, you could brown the sausage in a skillet and then transfer to a baking dish.
