Recipe By: Madeline
Prep: 5 minutesCook: 20 minutesTotal: 25 minutes
Servings: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

  • 16 oz pork sausage roll, or pork sausage links cut of casing
  • 13 oz jar pizza sauce
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 cups mozzarella
  • 2 oz pepperoni

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F
  2. Heat a small cast iron skillet over medium heat and place a roll of pork sausage in the warm skillet
  3. Break up the pork into crumbles with a stiff spatula, cook until browned about 6 minutes – if you are having trouble getting the crumbles to break apart you can take them out of the skillet once cooked and chop them
  4. Make a simple pizza sauce by mixing the tomato paste, water, salt, crushed red pepper, oregano, and garlic powder
  5. Take the pizza sauce and mix it into the sausage crumbles in the skillet
  6. Add half of the mozzarella cheese. Next, add a layer of the pepperoni, and then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese. Place in the oven.
  7. Bake at 400F for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is browned on top
  8. Enjoy with green bell pepper slices or slices of toasted baguette

Notes

If you do not have an oven safe skillet, you could brown the sausage in a skillet and then transfer to a baking dish.
