The Tool That Increased my Blog Traffic by Nearly 40%
I knew that Pinterest would be my key to organically getting more traffic to my blog posts, but I also knew that I couldn’t sit on the computer all day and post at least 20-30 pins a day. Then I found Tailwind. Tailwind is a scheduling service that allows you to schedule pins ahead of time so that you can be constantly sharing your content with the world without actually having to constantly be pinning.
Note: Some of the links on this page are affiliate links. If you do end up purchasing any of these recommended services, I will receive a small amount of commission. This helps me continue creating great recipes for all of you! Thank you for understanding that I would never recommend a product or service that I don't actually use and believe in.
Lets get into the numbers…
Traffic Pre Pinterest and Tailwind
This graph shows my blog traffic from summer 2018 before I was using Pinterest as a tool to send traffic to my blog. I was only using Instagram as a way to promote my blog and you can see from the numbers above that I was getting only about 1,200 visits to my blog each month. I knew that if i wanted to share my content with more people and more eyes I needed to change. In early August I created my Pinterest account and immediately started using Tailwind to schedule 20-30 pins every single day.
It didn’t take long to see the impact Pinterest had on my blog traffic.
Traffic Post Pinterest and Tailwind
This graph shows my blog traffic from August 1 to November 1, the first 3 months after using Tailwind. Of course some of this increase in traffic came from the organic growth of my Instagram, but I attribute a lot of this success to using Tailwind to promote my content on Pinterest. I felt like I had unlocked a secret that all bloggers needed to be using!!
So how do you use Tailwind?
First read my blog post on getting set up with Pinterest for your blog. Once you have done that follow this link to create a Tailwind account. From there its fairly simple. You will install a little plug in that allows you to pin to Tailwind instead of Pinterest.
When you hover over a graphic you will see the little blue Tailwind logo. When you click that you will be redirected to a Tailwind pop up where you can schedule your pin to a desired board or more than one board.
Once you have selected the boards that you want to pin to you can set an interval for your pin. I usually set a least a day between each time a specific recipe is pinned. This ensures that I am not spamming my content, but that my top recipes are getting repinned at least a few times a week.
I aim to have a good mix of my own content and content from others to pin each day. Once you have scheduled your desired pins you can see what your pins look like on the Tailwind app. I aim to schedule at least a full week of pins at one time and then let Tailwind do its magic.
I continue to see growth from this method. My monthly viewers on Pinterest grew from 0 viewers in August of 2018 to 2.5 million monthly views by January 2019. and I am confident that this will work for your blog too.
Watch your analytics to see your most popular recipes or posts. Those are the ones you want to prioritize as you continue to repost your content. Happy Pinning! And please reach out with any questions.
